A collection of my top photographs of waterfowl gathered over the years. Frequently overlooked, waterfowl can be excellent photographic subjects and are often cooperative in addition to being readily found locally.
Photos have all been taken in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
While not a hunter in the traditional sense, I created my name based largely around the thrill I’ve found in locating, safely approaching, and “shooting” the animals in this gallery. While there’s a thrill in locating all wildlife, some of the largest and most impressive which make up this gallery oftentimes create the greatest excitement and call back to the most visceral “thrill of the hunt” instincts for me.
Photos in this gallery have been taken in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, Maine, and Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
Some of the most intriguing and colorful photographic subjects, I enjoy photographing this avian group for many reasons, including their sometimes prehistoric demeanor, hunting abilities - which make for great photographic opportunities - and commonality. The Great Blue heron holds special significance in my life as a storied symbol of safety and protection.
Photos in this gallery have been taken in Florida (Everglades National Park), Georgia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
A collection of my best shots of small mammals I've encountered through the years. Some of the more elusive and wary creatures I've attempted to photograph, I hope to grow this collection in the years to come with more encounters and better tracking. That being said, it's a tall order, with many creatures of this category, such as skunks, possums and raccoons, being nocturnal and thus quite a challenge to shoot.
Photos have been taken in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Florida, New Jersey and Wyoming.
A “storybook” animal if there ever was one, the bear is a creature firmly planted in American (and worldwide) lore through characters, stuffed animals, and movies. In the wild, they’re an absolute thrill to shoot - most of the time being more skittish and wary that one would think. Black bear images in this gallery were shot in North Carolina, while the grizzly images were taken in Knight Inlet, in British Columbia.
Of all of the animal groups I photograph, for me, reptiles and amphibians bare the most similarities to prehistoric creatures. Time spent pointing my lens at these creatures is always a thought-provoking experience and elicits thoughts of our evolutionary past and history of life on this planet. They’re also nice to shoot in low light since they don’t move fast, or much at all…

Perhaps the single most iconic mammal of North America, the bison, once numbering over 50 million animals, was at one point reduced to a mere 325 animals. Through major conservation efforts, their numbers have bounced back to over a half million animals, living in small protected pockets throughout the United States. I hope the images in this gallery can do some justice to the iconic, powerful, and enduring spirit animal of the American west.
Bighorn sheep and mountain goats have always intrigued me. As a child, traveling through Colorado, my family & I caught glimpses of these impressive ungulates, and they’ve been high on my list of favorite animals ever since. Agile, fleet-footed, tough and regal, they’re icons of the American mountain west - and I’ve had the privilege to photograph them multiple times in Colorado, where all of these images were taken.
A collection of my photographs of some of the most exciting and well-known birds - raptors and game birds. From the ubiquitous holiday icon, the turkey, all the way to the regal symbol of our country, the Bald Eagle - these birds hold perhaps the most prominent positions in American culture and lore, and are always a blast to “shoot”.
Photos have been taken in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Colorado, Maine and Florida.
Owls are one of the most fascinating creatures on the planet. Incredible adaptations such as flat, round faces to enhance hearing, the ability to turn their heads almost a full 360 degrees, and completely silent flight have allowed them to become masters at aerial hunting. I’ve had the privilege to shoot a few different species over the years: Burrowing, short-eared, great horned, barred and snowy - and you’ll find them in this gallery.
Photos have been taken in Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The ocean boasts an incredibly diverse array of wildlife, never ceasing to offer opportunities to photograph unique and bountiful creatures. Of these, however, it's the mammals that I have the most affection for. From enormous, humbling whales, to extremely vocal sea lions, comically rotund harbor seals and playful sea otters, the mammals of the sea are some of my favorite subjects to spend time with. Photographed mainly in California and off the coast of British Columbia, I hope this collection brings you as much joy viewing as I had in shooting.
Much maligned and often overlooked, rodents as a group can be quite interesting photographic subjects. From the largest rodent in North America, the American Beaver, down to tiny subjects like the Eastern Chipmunk, this gallery is a collection of a group of animals which oftentimes presents the best photographic opportunities due to approachability, abundance and sometimes even inquisitiveness.
Photos in this gallery have been taken in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
While not a deep group, I broke out this category due to the personality and number of shots I have of these type of birds. Impressive hunters with special adaptations allowing for their ability to dive for food, I've found these creatures to be a unique and photogenic group.
Photos have been taken in New Hampshire and Florida, with most in Everglades National Park.
I don't consider myself a bird enthusiast, but while on the "hunt" for critters to shoot, I'm often left pointing my lens at the most common "default" creatures - all manners of songbirds and other common birds. Keeping in mind that commonality is by no means an indicator of the mundane, this group is replete with color and personality, and can be both a blast and challenge to photograph. These shots have been taken across the US, with most in the northeast.
Give me the choice between laying on a beach and a hike in the mountains and I’ll lace up my hiking boots 9 times out of 10. That being said, the ocean or shore can provide a wonderful escape and incredible peace. Here you’ll find some of the resident “shore” creatures I’ve shot over the years.
Photos have been taken in California, South Carolina, Florida, Delaware, New Jersey and New York.
While I don’t consider myself particularly adept at landscape photography and rarely focus on it, in my travels and searches for wildlife I invariably find myself in locations and situations where the true beauty of nature, beyond the creatures that I usually focus on, gives me pause. Some of these breathtaking moments, incredible locations and spectacular views are shared in this gallery.
Photos have been taken in Colorado, California, Maine, Florida, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Tennessee, Texas and Pennsylvania.
This gallery was spawned from getting creative with a few shots over the years and liking the results. They don’t quite fit in landscapes, and they’re unique - focusing on a particular element or pattern found in nature. I hope you enjoy.
One of my newer galleries, this was created due to a few requests to have a home for some of the wildflowers I’ve shot in my travels. All flowers/plant life pictured in this gallery were wild growing and photographed in preserves, parks and along hiking trails.
I get it - there are a LOT of images on this site in a lot of galleries. It can be overwhelming if you’re just stopping by to see a few good shots. So I put together this gallery for just that purpose - it’s a collection of my best wildlife images over the years (landscapes, abstracts and flora excluded), regardless of category, so you can find one spot to see the “best”. These are the shots I’m most proud of and believe represent my work best. I truly hope you enjoy this gallery.
My latest gallery, this was created to give a place for my newest images to live, so you can find the latest additions without going through a bunch of individual galleries. I hope you find this helpful.
